The President’s Corner

Dear Writers,
We’ve been quiet for two months now. But it’s time to begin our new 2010-2011 program year.

Each SW season brings some new faces to our board and usually, a few swaps in our roles as your board. It is my pleasure to present this year’s line-up, all of us hoping to see you at many of our monthly and special events.

Shirley Zeff – Membership Coordinator
Eunice Banks – Publicity
Claudine Chalmers – Program Coordinator
Carol York – Hospitality
Chuck Jaffee – Young Writers Contest
Marty Austin – Treasurer
Lucinda Porter – Newsletter and Webmaster
Babette Donaldson – President

The Board, representing the membership, elected to honor Phylis Wardy with a Lifetime Membership in appreciation for her many years of service both as a board member in many capacities and as the creator of our Young Writer Award Program.

We have some new features this year, beginning with our September program and new creative work on our Website and Newsletter.

I hope to see you at many of our meetings and events.
Welcome Back!
Babette Donaldson

Our Next Meeting
Our first meeting will be September 8 at 6:30 at the Madelyn Helling Library Community room. We will kick off the year with something a bit different; our theme is Welcome Back from Summer. We will introduce our new board members and talk about our future together as an organization and as writers. There will be refreshments and writing exercises, so bring paper, pen, and your writer’s mind. We will network and find ways to support each other’s craft.

Free raffle tickets will be given to all members of Sierra Writers who attend the meeting and have paid their dues. Friends and family are welcome and anyone who joins Sierra Writers before the raffle will be eligible for prizes.
