Kathia decided to study something really useful in college, so she went for French Literature with an emphasis in Medieval French Lit. Now she wishes she had taken at least one English class so she knew how to write a synopsis. But she didn’t know she wanted to be a writer. And she still has doubts about it all sometimes. If she had her druthers, she would have been a gypsy.

Life is idyllic for Kathia. She spends most of her days lazing on a hill overlooking downtown Grass Valley. She takes Alvin (her Pocket PC), sits on her stoop, and writes about her favorite things: love, food, and Kung Fu.

Kathia’s Favorite Authors, an Annotated List for the Curious

  • Dorothy Dunnett

One word for you—Lymond. While her Nicholas series is really good, the Lymond books are incomparable. He is the quintessential hero: good enough to be likable but bad enough to be interesting.

Dorothy Dunnett isn’t for everyone, but if you groove on the classics you might enjoy her work.

  • Chrétien de TroyesOkay, is there any author that can beat Chrétien? I don’t think so. His stories have it all: adventure, strife, intrigue, romance, and, of course, a moral.
  • Jennifer Crusie
